If you are seeking to upgrade in USSF District III the following procedure is to be used.

KENTUCKY STATE REFEREE ADMINISTRATION PROCEDURES FOR REFEREE SEEKING ADVANCEMENT

1. Referee must send a written request for upgrade to his/her District Administrator

and to the SRA,

with request for upgrade and assessment, along with referee's game history. Allow for thirty(30) days advance notice.

2. Request letter must contain statement that the referee has been an active referee, feels comfortable refereeing in the next level of competition and is ready to upgrade.

3. Referee must enclose a check payable to KSRA Referee Account in the amount of $20.00 for administration costs with the request letter to SRA; referee is responsible for new registration fee (grade 7 to grade 6 only) by USSF.  Referee will pay appropriate assessment fee for each game.

4. Qualifications for upgrading are reviewed by District Referee Administrator and SRA. No assessments dated prior to such request can be considered for upgrade.

5. If not qualified, a reply to referee with reasons is made; if qualified, a copy of request is sent by SRA to State Director of Assessment and District Assessor Coordinator; arrangements for an approved assessor in area with proper assignments is made in conjunction with District Referee Administrator.

6. District Assessor Coordinator reviews request of referee to insure proper assignments after notice from DRA and/or SRA. If an assessment is to be out-of-state, prior notice of the State Director of Assessment is required.

7. An assignment confirmation notice is sent to referee for each game assignment made with copy to assigned assessor of the date, time and place of game.

8. After the game/assessment, the assignment confirmation notice must be returned to State Director of Assessment and District Assessor Coordinator confirming assessment performed.

9. Per USSF guidelines, assessment(s) are made and results sent to Director of Assessment, referee and also, a copy to SRA for review and final decision on upgrade.

10. District Referee Administrator and referee are notified of results (success or failure of upgrade).


If you are seeking a maintenance assessment in USSF District III you must use the following guidelines. All grade 7's, 6's and 5's are required to get an annual maintenance assessment.

1. Go to the Referee Administrative Handbook, to find out the level of match needed for your maintenance assessment.

2. Contact the assignor and get a game at the appropriate level.

3. Contact District Director of Assessments (DDA) or State Director of Assessments (SDA) if DDA is not available in your area.

Give him the date, location and time of the match.  This game needs to be at least two weeks away.

4. The DDA or SDA will arrange for an assessor to assess the game.

5. The referee is responsible to pay the game fee to the assessor and make appropriate compensation to the assessor if the assessor is from a different area.
